Group Therapy

I conduct a variety of groups at varying locations. The types of groups include:

  • Demystifying meditation and relaxation techniques

This group covers the myths, risks, advantages of varying different types of meditations. Participants will get to slowly learn different techniques starting with some that are typically easier to navigate for those that usually battle with meditation, moving through a variety of different techniques from various orientations. This will allow you to start being able to use specific meditation techniques suited to the space you are in rather than always having to the same one which may not match the needs of the day.

  • Polyvagal mindfulness

This group teaches polyvagal theory as taught by the Community Resilience Model (as taught by the TRI, CA, USA), to allow you to learn about how trauma and stress impacts your physiological and mental health. It gives you the language and some techniques to build a sense of resilience so as to allow you to feel like you have more bandwidth. The skills build on principles found in somatic psychology, DBT, CBT, Interpersonal Neurobiology, trauma informed therapies, and yoga. The group builds towards giving you some basic insights and understanding of the language of your being and how to come back into flow when life has brought you into states of chaos or rigidity. It can be a cost effective way to learn about some basic principles which are at the heart of the therapy I offer my practice.

If you would like to be notified of upcoming groups please subscribe. If there is a particular group you are interested in joining in please use the contact me function for me to add you to the waiting list.

Talks & Workshops

Workshops and talks offered are only conducted by prior arrangement. They are conducted at schools, companies or venues. Topics of talks that I offer include:

  • Polyvagal Parenting and Teaching

This talk will introduce parents to the neurobiology of stress and trauma; how our brains develop and why talking or saying "calm down" doesn't work in high stress situations; how stress and sensory issues can look like ADHD or learning issues and how to look for treatments that address the cause rather than the symptoms; how to improve our own and our children's resilience; and the role of connection in a human world where we all get stressed at times leaving connection feeling impossible.

  • How to Build Resilience

This talk allows participants to get a deeper understanding of the neurobiology of stress and trauma; some attitudes, practices and principles that are pivotal to growing in resilience.
